Me
Only Cry: ‘ Close The Arms Factories’
Ans 1 – The poem is a touching appeal.
Ans2- In the last stanza, ‘ right wing politics’ means
policies followed by a conservative political party. Be it right wing or left
wing politics, they do no matter much to small children. Who suffer because of
their decisions to allow manufacturing to arms and ammunition.
Ans3- The poet wants to convey to the adults the
urgent need to stop manufacture of arms and ammunition as they cause widespread
destruction and devastation. It is an appeal to the grown-ups of the world to
make the Earth a peaceful and beautiful place so that the children may enjoy
its abundant resources.
Ans 4- Yes, I agree with the poet as peace ,
fellowship and friendship will bring great dividends for all. If we keep making
arms and ammunition , we will only end up hurting each other.
Ans 5 (a) The poet call the world ‘deaf’ as it cannot
hear the cries of young children who are distraught at the devastation caused
by adults as they use arms and ammunition.
(b) The child feels that their life is all about love
and affection. But the destructive actions of the adults pit a ‘veil of dust’
over this fact. It is like a dirty and ugly cover of hatred and rivalry that
the adults have created.
